Style Icon--Bliss Cavendar

Hello Loves! I don't know how many of you have seen the movie Whip It, but it's one of my all time favorites. The main character, Bliss, played by the amazing and beautiful Ellen Page, has been one of the main influences on my own personal style.
This might be my favorite outfit that she wears in the entire movie. I want to know where they got the lace up dress, jumper thing they put her into! I would buy one, unless it was outrageously expensive, in which case I would buy a knock off.
Bliss wears a lot of baggy band shirts and flirty fifties skirts, the combination of which works surprisingly well. The boy, Oliver, who is next to her on the car in this image, also has a wonderful sense of fashion, but due to things that I cannot tell you because it would spoil the movie, he does not deserve to be featured here!
And one final one, just of Bliss looking beautiful in her workout clothes. This is before she officially made the team, hence the Barbie skates, but whatever. I wish my legs looked that good in knee highs.

Inspiration

Hello, my loves. It's been a while since I've posted on here. I thought I'd break the hiatus by showing you my latest additions to my file folders of general inspiration.
One of my friends actually has a sheer blouse that she wears a black bra underneath...if only I could be so bold. I mean, I would, but living with my family, I'd never get away with it.
Gotta love a good Lennon bag. I really want to know where this one came from. If anyone has any idea, leave a comment or message me at fistfightsandfairylights@yahoo.com
This is some sort of 80s top that I found on Etsy, and I REALLY want it. Naturally, it was recently purchased, so I can't drool over it anymore.

I probably would have done this with different hair, a different bag, and without the necklaces. But I love the rest of it!
Crochet lace. Crochet lace would go very well with my skeleton tights. This one is from either Chic Wish or She Inside, I don't really remember which.

This is a dress from She Inside. And may I say once again, it would look amazing with my skeleton tights.

Feeling lucky, punk?

I'm so excited that hardcore punk is in season this year! I was a little goth girl for my first two years of high school, and she was awakened in my soul again when I saw all of the leather jackets with spikes!
This is kind of more of a hipster version, and that's kind of how I'm rocking my punk look. My camera is out of commission at the moment, but I'll add a personal style post the next time I'm able to.
All I want in the world is a pair of combat boots. I just love them so much. I could live a pair of combat boots. As it is, I have a pair of them with heels, but I've practically worn them to pieces.
Ripped tights. I bloody love ripped tights. Especially with girly, aline skirts.
Not a believable shoe, but still, I would totally wear it.
Octopus faux gauges. Me want. Although, I know people who can make a pair of these out of fimo clay just as easily as I could buy a pair.
I actually own a pair of these tights. After hunting various websites and finding them for 34 dollars and up, I bought a cheap knockoff on Ebay for 9 dollars. Ebay has a lot of various sellers that are only there to sell overflow stock for cheap. Some of them are Korean and Vietnamese manufacturers who make knockoffs of expensive brands, and so their stock is discounted from a price that is cheaper already. I've bought everything from Modcloth to Anthropologie. If you're looking to score a cheap look that still looks chic, that's the first place I would go.
High fashion alternative girl. Mesh is also really in as a layering piece, just make sure you wear a warm coat! Brr!
And last but not least, Litas. Gotta love the Litas. I wish I lived in a world where I didn't have a budget and wasn't saving jointly for a car and school in New York and I could just spend my entire pizza making salary on fashion. Someday right?

Geek Love

I'm proud to say that I have an inner geek. Although, I must say, I don't really hide it that well. I'm always going off on some tangent about my love of Sherlock, or the assets of both Matt Smith and David Tennant, when it comes to Doctor Who. Speaking of British tv, the new season of Sherlock is being written right now! Filming is set to begin in January!!!
 Fashionably geek.
I love this picture so much. It's so bad ass.
Can be found at shopplasticland.com. I actually asked for this for my birthday, but didn't get it. :( (You can't really tell in this picture, but the pink parts of the bag are glittery).
My friends and I have this really dorky obsession with Disney princesses. This picture made me happy to no  end. Look how hot my girl looks! Although, I would honestly wear any of the outfits in either of these two pictures.

AHHHH....Sherlock! Gotta love Sherlock!

Hipster Sherlock. :)

The lingerie post

Now, when it comes to fashion, I might be a loose cannon, but in lingerie I'm always a lady. ;)
I look for feminine shapes, little skirts sometimes, and lots of lace. I really love vintage lingerie, from the 20s and 30s, but that stuff is really hard to get your hands on, and once you do, it's really only collectible, not usable. When I find a great 20s-inspired lingerie line, I promise you, I will share. Until then, take a peek at my other loves.

One of my friends always calls me Snow White, because when we met I had short, black hair that I always had a bow in. That personal trend of mine ended, but the nickname stuck, so I was absolutely giddy when I found this.

This lovely lady is showcasing a large amount of bow love. Gotta have that bow love.

I hope you enjoyed! Feel free to comment, I really welcome them! Until next time!
Cheers!

Fashion la-la-love: Striped dresses

My friends always roll my eyes at me when I start gushing about the newest "optical illusion" dress that I'm currently drooling over. To me, it's an accurate nickname, because stripes create an optical illusion on the body, right? Done right, they can make your breasts look bigger, your waist look smaller, or your body look taller!

Look at what all of these dresses do for the body! I love the way that the designers manipulated the fabric to use the effect of the stripes to their fullest.
Here are two more, and I actually own both of these "optical illusion" dresses:

All of the dresses pictured here can be purchased from modcloth.com. It's probably the website that I spend most of my time on.
I do realize that the second of these dresses is chevron, but as far as I'm concerned, chevron is merely a variation of stripes.
Cheers!

Fashion icon: Christopher Palu

Hello, My Loves.
Being as this is my first blog post on this site, I figured I'd start by showcasing one of my style icons. When I say icon, I mean both what he wears and what he designs. It only makes sense for me to idolize the fashion sense of male fashion designers, because my own dress sense varies between the masculine and the feminine (back in high school, I used to have what I called "Kurt Cobain" fashion days...you can imagine the rest).
Christopher Palu is a designer on season 10 Lifetime's hit show Project Runway, and I am absolutely in love with him. Cough cough, I mean, his sense of style.
This is the only picture I could find of Chris in his bleached skull tank, but it's definitely my favorite piece of clothing he wears on the show.
This picture is from Twitter, and it is very very Christopher. He's always wearing scarves that look fashionable and comfy.
Here he is with the costume that he designed for the Rockettes. He won this challenge, and the Rockettes are going to wear his costume in an upcoming performance. I love the way that he did the skyline, and I'm glad that he didn't do something stupid and cliche with the skirt, like so many of the other designers did.
This is the dress with which he won the Lord and Taylor challenge. It is being sold as part of their Project Runway collection, which features designs from all ten seasons. I'm currently saving up my money to buy this dress. I think it costs somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300 dollars, if I'm remembering right.
And finally....
Just had to add in this quote. :)
Cheers!
